You could be very right Caroline, "reality is somewhere in between." In between the devil and the deep blue sea? It seems, following the dreadful BP oil spill from the Mexican Gulf, which will eventually follow the "Gulf Stream" to the UK, we are re…

Thanks so much everybody for all your insightful comments. Peter what you have to say is well-preceived and Dr Chris is right too ,but the reality is surely somewhere in between the two extremes. Both over-population and over-development are evident…

Interesting read over at the Guardian website about the impact Climate change is having on children around the world. Companies call for 'credible' climate action

The Age - September 23, 2009
CHRIS ZAPPONE

A group of 500 global businesses, including dozens of Australian corporations, have called for "credible" action on climate change.

The publication of the so-called Copenhagen Communique comes two months before the UN climate change conference in Copenhagen in December, amid fears the meeting will fail to put in place an agreement to effectively cut the carbon emissions blamed for global climate change.

Local companies such as National Australia Bank… Continue

The photo of this ancient tree (I think it's probably a blackwood) was taken at Grieves Reserve, which is a Trust for Nature property, just out of Mirboo Nth. It is adjacent to pine plantation, and probably near the origin of the Delburn/Boolarra Fires that were one week before Black Saturday. This reserve had an area of cool temperate rainforest that'll probably never recover.

Hi Tom, good we share some of the same concerns. Added to this is my belief that as we harm the planet we harm ourselves. I am therefore interested in eco-psychotherapy and healing.

Hi, Tom - have you received any info on the claim that we can make our own home made energy systems? I repeat this request because if this works as claimed, and is feasible for Australian conditions, the cost of sustainable energy should be greatly reducedl - as a result, less carbon pollution! I have no vested interest in this scheme, just want to know if anyone has tried it, and what the outcome as been. The website address, again, is: www.homemadeenergy.org.
