Before you clock off for summer – tell Kevin to get the targets right!

As we know, the Copenhagen talks ended without agreement to set binding emissions reduction targets.

Instead, all that could be managed was a voluntary agreement, which was 'noted' rather than formally adopted.

Australia was one of the countries that lobbied for the Accord. The accord will list the voluntary emissions reduction targets by developed and developing countries, in Annexes to the main document. Countries are asked to provide their target by February 1, 2010.

Civil society and NGO's have every right to attend these talks and seek a fair deal for all.… Continue

daily email actions for Copenhagen talks

hello all,

we have been posting daily action alerts around the Copenhagen talks. There is lots of info here: http://www.foei.org/ which has images from yesterday's 'Flood for climate justice' march.

This weekend we are trying to generate large numbers of people showing support for the G77 - developing nations - who are under great pressure to sign up to a weak, unjust deal that suits the rich western countries.

We are building a message of support via twitte… Continue
